Tatiana Abramova, aka Gourmet Rambler, was one of the earliest contributors to our Wine for Haiti project, and it just slipped through my fingers. Fortunately, she caught it, and now we are delighted to offer this marvelous bottle of Pax Syrah Cuvee Keltie 2004 for auction. The retail value is $100.00.
“The 2004 Syrah Cuvee Keltie (100% Syrah) displays classic licorice, asphalt, new saddle leather, blackberry liqueur, white chocolate, and pepper characteristics. This dense, full-bodied, superb Syrah possesses considerable structure and tannin. Give it 1-3 years of bottle age and consume it over the following 10-12.” 95-97 points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate #162
“Medium ruby-red. Blackberry and blueberry jam enlivened by flowers and exotic spices on the nose. Sweet, lush and generous; there’s nothing hard about this pliant wine, which was made without any new oak. Finishes with broad tannins and lovely lingering fruit. This had been racked to tank the day before my visit but was showing very well.” 92-94 points, Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar
Opening bid is $50.00. Minimum bid increment $5.00.
[How it works- Each auction lot will get its own post. As soon as it gets its own post, the auction is live. Once a bit of time has passed, and people really know about Wine for Haiti, lots will go live AND HOT. Every item will got “hot” if bidding reaches retail value. Once hot, each lot is on a 24-hour cycle. If a lot goes a full 24 hours without a new bid, the last bid in the comments wins. If we get into a bidding war, with the same people going back and forth, one day at a time, we will post something in the comments of that Auction Lot and schedule a time to bid to the death, at a time mutually agreeable to everybody involved.]
