Cruz Silver Tequila comes from the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, and is made from 100% blue agave. The agave is baked in clay ovens, cooled, then crushed, before it is double distilled in stainless pot stills.
The aroma is surprisingly soft, like cucumber, agave, and velvet. On the palate, flavors explode, filled with sudden turns, sharp corners, and really interesting spikes. The first impression is sweet, pure agave nectar. That is followed by vegetal and citrus flavors, cucumber, grapefruit, orange peel, then a sudden pop of spice, cinnamon and cayenne pepper. Citrus peel and white pepper finish then linger.
This is a lovely spirit. It’s clean, pure, layered, and pure agave. Sip it neat, or substitute it for gin to make a south of the border Aviación. Highly Recommended. 91 pts. DBH
