Nose offers sweetness of honey and quince backed by citrus/stone fruit. On the palate it is medium dry to medium, with 110 g/l rs that are well balanced by pronounced and lively acidity (9g) tartaric. This is an almost fleshy, medium bodied wine that delivers a long finish. Very young.
Concentrated and focused with earthy minerality, citrus and hints of herbs. On the palate it is dry with refreshing acidity/8.5g tartaric that balances pronounced fruit intensity and some residual sugars (7g/l). Wine has a dense structure and a spicy palate. Can keep for more than 6-8 years. Ioannis Karakasis WHO: Robert
With this wine we are getting pretty serious- in the dry style of course. Nose is a little bit shy but focused. Moving to the palate, I must comment on its huge extraction and concentration. The wine has a phenolic texture and is nearly full bodied, rare for a Riesling.
Soil in Turmberg is primarily loess and loam, becoming slatey/phyllite going deeper. This results in a focused/restrained nose full of minerality and peach. Off-dry on palate with refreshing acidity that will provide the vessel for long ageing. Concentrated with medium+ body and length. Ioannis Karakasis WHO: Weingut Robert Weil WHAT:
