Made in Napa’s northernmost area, Calistoga, the wine comes from grapes grown in vineyards that carry the certifications “Napa Green” and “Fish-Friendly Farming.” Which is important because these grape growers have committed to sustainable vineyard practices and to regenerating the Napa River which flows from north to south through the region.
This wine is a good introduction to a classic, very popular Napa-style cabernet sauvignon with a nice herby aroma, bursting with red fruit on the palate and surrounded by soft tannins. As it settles in the glass, elements of structural acidity and tannins blossom to balance the flavors, which lengthen and broaden as the wine opens. So it’s a good idea to decant the wine, or let it breathe in the glass for a short while.
Pairs well with many dishes from meats to pasta to vegetables.
