First planted in 2004, Red Tail Ridge Winery is showing its potential more and more clearly these years, turning out some very interesting red wines and some solid rieslings as well, all at great prices. The 2010 Semi-Dry Riesling, produced in a very hot and dry vintage, is a great example of this, with a great balance between the ripe character of the year and the freshness and minerality that make really good Riesling. There are tropical notes in this wine, and just enough roundness and sweetness from the residual sugar, yet there is also a good dose of fresh lime on the finish, as well as a bit of mineral tension to make the whole package the best of both worlds. A great quality-price ratio, great to drink by itself or with some charcuterie and cheese, freshly-caught trout and so much more. Highly recommended. RC
