2013 Tulip “White Franc”

Off-dry and interesting. This curious and pleasant white wine is made primarily from the red wine grape, cabernet franc. There is no skin contact after the juice is pressed, so no color (which comes from the skins) is added to the wine. With 13-14 grams of residual sugar, there is a clear sweetness. It is very nicely perfumed, with aromas and tastes of rosewater, with a touch of tobacco added on the palate. White grapefruit pith lingers on the finish. This would be quite nice with a kosher hot dog, and the sweetness would counter the bite of diced onions and hot mustard. Recommended. 87 points.
