Soft, gentle, and balanced, this is a great ribs and coleslaw wine. Raspberry, blackberry, and allspice show on the nose. Lots of raspberry show on the palate, ranging from fresh tart berries to sweet berries in cream. It has a touch of vanilla and a pantry full of spice, including allspice, black pepper, and cloves. Vanilla and some brown sugar come out on the mid-palate and run through the finish, showing the effect of the wood. Mouth-feel is very soft, even silky. Tannins offer a gentle grip. Drink with dry rubbed ribs and good coleslaw. Recommended. 88 points.
