2010 Rappahannock Cellars Cabernet Franc Reserve

If you’re ever making the culinary pilgrimage to the Inn at Little Washington in the Virginia countryside (which will leave you, as one should be on a pilgrimage, on your knees in reverence and awe) there are plenty of local wineries in the Rappahannock County area worth checking out. Many are very small operations, producing some fine but limited production and therefore hard-to-find wines. Virginia wines – which I used to view (and taste) with disdain – have come a long way. Rappahannock Cellars’ 2010 Cab Franc Reserve is a primo example. Rich, luscious blackberry and cassis notes waft from the glass. It explodes on the palate with opulent flavors of blackberries, currants, and anise. Long, languorous finish. Perfect with prime rib or USDA Prime ribeye steak. Unfortunately, this wine is available only to wine club members. Very Highly Recommended (94) GPT
