For wine-lovers who rarely have a chance to taste older Bordeaux vintages, this is a great experience: a Grand Cru Classé wine that is over ten years old, from the Saint-Emilion part of Bordeaux, which means that is is mainly merlot. The wine is just transitioning from mature fruit to secondary fruit characteristics, from fresh berries in the aromas and flavors to more herbs, leather, and fruit-tea elements. Nicely light still on the palate, with well-integrated tannins and acidity. And this estate is a pioneering organic one in the region, since 2004.
For the full experience, drink at the beginning of a meal when your palate is fresh; simple roast meats would be a good accompaniment, without rich sauces.
