Submit a Story

Palate Press welcomes new voices and is always seeking original material that offers our readers fresh, insightful wine information and commentary.

To submit a story, send a suggested title and a summary of the main idea to submissions@palatepress.com. New writers should attach a writing sample, or provide a link to one published elsewhere. All stories must be new and previously unpublished, and weigh-in at about 1,000 words.

Our executive editor, Meg Houston Maker, reviews all submissions for relevance and suitability to the publication. Sometimes we decline a story that is a strong concept but redundant to material already published or in our pipeline.

Once a story idea is accepted, writers should submit their draft to submissions@palatepress.com. Once approved, managing editor Ryan Reichert will assign a story editor to work with the author to edit and produce the article for publication.

Palate Press pays for assigned features, ones that represent considerable research and journalistic accomplishment. We do not pay for other stories at this time. Unless other arrangements have been made, we retain the rights to all stories, and articles remain in our archives in perpetuity. Photos and illustrations accompanying an article should be owned by the author or be rights-free.

Please direct any inquiries to submissions@palatepress.com. We look forward to hearing from you.

All submissions are subject to the Palate Press Publishing Agreement.
