2008 White Rose Estate Dundee Hills Pinot Noir

Fermented with 40% whole cluster in 10-15% new French oak. This showed darker fruits typical of 2008 Willamette Valley, getting more tart and adding citrus peel and spice on the mid-palate, Spanish orange and cloves. Minerality and some smoky meat flavors came through on the finish. This will be very nice after some time, perhaps three or four years in the cellar. Food choices can go in two different directions, double up the spice with marinated flank steak, or create a spice-to-fat counterpoint by pairing it with a nice ribeye. Highly recommended.

2009 Matello Whistling Ridge Vineyard White

Clean, medium intensity aromatics of ripe peach, bright citrus, perfume, candied nectarine, and tart apple. Dry, medium-high acidity, medium body, flavors of lime zest, candied orange, and green apple. Vibrant and bright. Pair with a salad of arugula, roasted beets, kumquats, pepitas, pecorino romano, and cidre vinaigrette. Highly recommended.

2010 Seven of Hearts Rosé

Clear, bright, medium-light intensity, watermelon pink. Clean, medium-low intensity aromas of strawberry, melon rind, under ripe cherry, apple skin; a little heat on the nose (14.7 abv). Dry, medium body, medium-high acidity, medium-high alcohol, medium intensity flavors: citrus, tart apple, raspberry, stone fruit; noticeable heat on the palate. Refreshing and easy drinking; pair with baked ham. Recommended.

2008 Winderlea Ana Pinot Noir

Clear, bright, medium, ruby color. Clean aromas of sweet fruit, black cherry, brown sugar, smoke, baked black fruit, cola. Dry on the palate, medium acidity, medium-low tannin, round, intense flavors, lush, red fruit, black fruit, Bing cherry, blackberry, plum, blueberry, cocoa, medium finish. Drink now, or hold for 5-7 years. Pair with slow smoked ribs. Recommended.

2009 Brittan Chardonnay

Clear, medium intensity, straw yellow color. Clean, medium intensity aromas, yellow apple, cooked tropical fruit, candied lemon peel, spun sugar, and caramelized pineapple; simply intoxicating. Dry, full body, medium acidity, medium-long finish, candied orange, peaches and cream, slight butter, roasted apples, and pears. Pair with crab, lobster, or prawns. Highly recommended.

2007 Domaine Serene Evenstad Reserve Pinot Noir

Nice nose of raspberry and light earth. Feels lightweight on the palate, however. The fruit is there and pleasant enough, with notes of allspice and light currants, and the finish is nice, it’s kind of all dressed up with nowhere exciting to go. Try with lamb kebabs. A nice enough wine, but for the price, this wine is not recommended.

2010 Trisae Pinot Noir Rosé

A new release from Trisaetum Winery, located in the Willamette Valley’s Ribbon Ridge AVA. The color is clear, pale pink with just a touch of copper. On the nose, aromas are clean and light to medium intensity, including orange zest, crisp apples, strawberry, and cherry. Light bodied and dry on the palate with medium acidity, and gentle flavors including fresh apple, plum, raspberry, cherry, and strawberry; simple and refreshing with a mild finish. Keep the pairings simple too—fresh fruit, poached salmon, or chicken salad. Recommended.
