2008 Strut Risqué Rosé, Okanagan, British Columbia

The strawberry and banana penny candy on the nose is a sure give away of the Gamay component of this wine. The rest of it—aromas and flavours of strawberries, sour cherries, and rhubarb—work together for an enjoyable value-priced BC rosé. Juicy and nicely balanced, I’d buy this one again. Make sure to stop and smell the rosé

Ahhh rose: A wonderful wine driven to exile in many domestic markets due to its striking visual similarity to the much sweeter White Zinfandel wines. That being said, it’s probably true that even if white zin were actually white, Rose would still have a tough time breaking into the young male demographic. I mean, let’s face it… the only reason white cranberry juice even exists is so that men will order “camouflage cosmopolitans”. Plus, I’ve sat in quite a few power dinners. When you’re a young professional surrounded by the would-be cast of Mad Men with their two fingers of small batch bourbon and 48 gauge churchills, you don’t want to be the guy who orders 6oz of pink grape juice. 2008 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Côtes du Rhône Rosé Parallele “45”

A very dry rose with light flavors of tart red fruit, rhubarb and dried strawberries. It showed some spice and depth on the mid-palate before a slightly bitter, but clean, finish. A good choice for Thanksgiving, matching well with turkey and dressing and appealing across a broad range of palates.

Another fantastic find, this one under $15, for a rose from the Touraine-Amboise region that was the most vibrant salmon color and that vibrancy was matched in the aromatic strawberry, mineral, and tangerine peel notes in the wine. Very refreshing, not sweet at all, and elegant enough for Thanksgiving dinner.

This wine is the most beautiful dark salmon-colored rosé. This wine is produced from the Grenache Gris grape, which is one of the few “pink” grapes. This crisp rose had a ton of tropical fruit and melon flavors, with a hint of roses. It was a meaty rose with bold blood orange [...]

Ah, the humiliation of it all: Statistics recently released by the European Union (referenced in this USDA report on the European wine market) show that the United States has passed France in exports of wine to Great Britain. The British market is critical to the French wine industry. It was thirsty Brits on the hunt [...]

Rosé isn’t just for hot weather anymore, and with October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it’s a good time to stop and reflect on how we can go pink.
