Medolla Vineyards, part of the amazing New York contingent of generous wineries, contributed a case of their 2003 Merlot, the only grape they use in the only wine they make. Retail value is $192.
This is a very special lot. This is not from a winery, but from winery employees. A Palate Press Contributor, and more important a friend, Leah McNally, told her friends and co-workers at Stag's Leap Wine Cellars about Wine for Haiti, and they pulled bottles from their personal collections for the auction. Nice bottles, too. The generous contributors are Leah McNally, Ben DeLeon, Jim Duane, Pete Serrano, and Mark Smith. Retail value of this lot is $573.00.
The Gamble Family Vineyard made one of those generous contributions that made me say "WOW!" out loud when I received it. The winner of this auction will get two nights at the Gamble Family Vineyards guesthouse and a private tasting with Tom Gamble. When Gamble says "guesthouse," they really mean "GUESThouse." It is not available for rent, it is actually reserved for guests. Similar accommodations and tastings would have a retail value of approximately $3,000.00, though this particular offer is, well pricelesss.
