2008 Olivier Leflaive Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Vergers Clos Saint-Marc

Palate Press
January 15, 2011
Tasting Notes
Flavors of Anjou pear, pastry and almond past in subtle, leesy, yeasty character over limestone & oyster shell. The wine is very well balanced, with medium body, medium acids, and medium alcohol. It earned a consensus score of 4+ stars out of five at the 2010 Palate Press Grand Tasting. Drink with stuffed flounder.

Palate Press Wine of the Week: 1998 Louis Jadot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Garenne Domaine du Duc de Magenta

Honeysuckle, lemon, and orange blossoms poured over flint, leading to a biscotti and lemon-butter finish. Minerality and acids make a terrific backbone, while fruit and florals lead to a long finish. Drink a glass with lobster bisque, then linger over a second glass by itself.

I’m starting to think that maybe law isn’t my thing. This worries me. I had dragged myself through three years of college pre-med before I realized doctors don’t get Cs and Ds in organic chemistry. So I landed in law school in DC, but now instead of spending my days reading antitrust law, I’m reading blogs about wine.
