The nose is a lovely combination of asian pear, hibiscus and slate. It has more citrus on the palate, lemon, plus pears and shortbread. Jerk chicken would be a perfect match.
This is marvelously rich and balanced, with a finish that lasts forever.
This chewy Spanish red is made from old vine Grenache. It is rich, tannic, and deserves a lot of swirling in the glass to open up flavors of dark red and black fruit, chocolate, and spice.
Another Spanish red that helped my mind take a vacation was this super sexy Tempranillo. Filled with dark fruit and smoke, this wine is supple and juicy. It is well balanced and utterly drinkable. Watch out: this wine screams red hot passion. Think Penelope Cruz in a glass. (Yes, it’s that good.)
There was a time when I ran off to France for a couple of weeks and drowned my sorrows in bottles exactly like this: a Rhone varietal made up of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 10% Mourvedre. This is a perfect drinking wine -- the blend makes it great with any kind of food (or no food at all). I swoon over the red berry flavors with just a hint of minerality. C’est parfait.
After drinking a glass of this I discovered my heart is still capable of fluttering. This wine is intense, and complex. It is earthy and a little oaky, filled with red and black fruit and dark chocolate. Eat it with a steak still very pink in the middle.
Good lord, this was good. If fresh and clean had an aroma and a taste--it would be this wine. Amazing wet snow, mineral, and stone aromas, with some leafing out and citrus aspects. Then the wine was crisp and citrusy, very refreshing without being at all fruit-laden. My first from this producer, but not my last.
