93 Points, Wine Spectator

Plenty of cedar and currant flavors, full body and a sense of intensity and liveliness. One of the most powerful Lafites in the tasting.

This is a great wine from one of the great Chateaux of Bordeaux. 1962 was a good vintage in Bordeaux, with a warm, dry, sunny Spring, warm Summer, and a hot September, leading to fully ripened grapes. It languished in the shadow of the classic 1961 vintage (the 1961 Lafite will fetch at least twice the price, if you can find it), much like 2001 following the great 2000 vintage. In a good vintage like 1962, great houses make great wines, and a well-aged Lafite is always a good choice.
