Rubicon Estate generously joined Wine for Haiti with a magnum of their CASK Cabernet Sauvignon 2006. This delicious wine has a retail value of $180.
“Out of respect for the environment and our vineyard staff, as well as our belief that organic grapes make better wine, Rubicon Estate is farmed organically and certified by the California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF). The fruit that is earmarked for CASK grows in two estate vineyards: Chateau and Cohn. These two prominent Rutherford properties produce Cabernets with tremendous depth, rich color, profuse berry aromas, and the unmistakable flavor of ripe Bing cherries, which has become the characteristic hallmark of CASK.” Rubicon Estate.
“An elegant, complex 100% Cab, solid and potent, although it’s also young and fresh in tannins and needs time in the cellar. Not showing particular finesse now, with straightforward cherry, blackberry and currant flavors, but has the balanced stuffing for the cellar. Better after 2011.” – 90 Points, Wine Enthusiast Magazine, S.H. (12/31/2009)
Opening bid is $100.00. Minimum bid increment $10.00.
[How it works- Each auction lot will get its own post. As soon as it gets its own post, the auction is live. Once a bit of time has passed, and people really know about Wine for Haiti, lots will go live AND HOT. Every item will got “hot” if bidding reaches retail value. Once hot, each lot is on a 24-hour cycle, ending at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time. If a lot goes a full 24 hours, from 10:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., without a new bid, the last bid in the comments wins. If we get into a bidding war, with the same people going back and forth, one day at a time, we will post something in the comments of that Auction Lot and schedule a time to bid to the death, at a time mutually agreeable to everybody involved.]
